Vajrasana

Techniques:

  • Kneel on the floor with knees close together
  • Keep the big toes together and the heels separated
  • Lower the buttocks and sit between the heels
  • Heels should touch the sides of the hips
  • Keep the spine erect and the palms placed on the knees
  • The body is relaxed and the spine is in natural alignment
  • Sit in this position for as long as it is comfortable

Contra-indications:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Knee problems
  • Pregnancy
  • A beginner should only attempt this pose with the guidance of a yoga consultant
