Head to Toe Pose

Sirsha Angushtha Yogasana
The Sirsha Angushtha is a Sanskrit translation for ‘Head to Toe’ and this pose is part of the forward bending group of yogasanas. It is known to help increase the metabolic fire and achieve a mind-body balance.
Techniques:
- Stand with the feet as far apart as is comfortable
- Interlock the fingers and keep them behind the buttocks
- Turn the right foot out to the right side
- Bend forward from the hips and simultaneously bend the right knee
- Keep the right lower leg perpendicular to the floor
- Bend forward until the forehead comes close to the right foot
- Keep the elbows straight and shoulders stretched backwards
- Maintain balance
- To release, raise the head and trunk and simultaneously straighten the knee
- Release the interlocked fingers and bring the feet together
Contra-indications:
- Sciatica
- Slipped disc
- Heart conditions
