Techniques:

  • Stand straight with feet together and arms by the sides
  • Bend the right leg, grasp the ankle with right hand behind the body
  • Keep both knees together and maintain balance
  • Slowly raise and stretch the right leg backward
  • Wait for the body to balance itself
  • Once the body is balanced try to keep the hip square
  • Raise the arm up in front just above head level
  • Look towards the left finger tips
  • This is the final position, hold for as long as it is comfortable
  • Practice from the left side as well for the same duration

Contra-indications:

  • Injury in the hips or legs

Benefits:

  • Develops nervous balance
  • Strengthens the lower back, hips and leg muscles
