Vitality Stimulating Breath

Surya Bheda
The word surya means ‘sun’ and bheda means ‘to pierce’ or ‘to pass through’. In this pranayama, breath passes through the right nostril, which represents vital energy; so it is called surya bheda pranayama.
Techniques:
- Sit in a comfortable position or a meditative posture
- Bring the right hand and fold the first two fingers (index and middle)
- Spine, shoulder, neck and head are keep erect
- Close the left nostril completely with the tip of the thumb
- Inhale through the right nostril
- Close the right nostril completely with the tip of ring and small finger
- Exhale from left nostril and this completes one cycle
- Starts with five cycles and try to achieve ten cycles

- Promotes extroversion
- Reduces cough and cold
- Stimulates pranic energy
- Alleviates depression
- Makes the mind alert

- Heart disease
