Rotator Cuff injury or strain is an injury to any of the four rotator cuff muscles in the shoulder. The rotator cuff is the group of four tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint. The problem can result from a sudden injury or gradual deterioration, which makes it a chronic disease. It can either be a simple inflammation and, therefore, may not cause any damage to the muscles or it can permanently tear the muscles.

The symptoms of rotator cuff injury vary according to the nature of the injury. If it is a chronic tear, the pain will increase at night and the patient will be unableto lift the injured arm above the shoulder followed by weaknessIn case of acute tear, the person will feel severe pain in the arm immediately after the injury. Often, the pain is accompanied by bleeding. However, these symptoms go away in a few days, leaving tenderness on the spot of the rupture.
