Hypertension

MEANING


Hypertension is a disorder which causes the blood pressure to reach abysmally high levels. Persistent hypertension can lead to the development of fatal ailments, such as heart attacks, chronic renal failure and arterial aneurysm. It adversely affects the nervous system and several important body organs.

There are two types of hypertensions: Primary and secondary. Primary hypertension does not have many visible symptoms but secondary hypertension has prominent signs. It is more fatal in nature.

  • Adho Mukha Virasana is also effective in dealing with hypertension. Besides, one can also try poses like Supta Baddha konasana and Janu Sirshasana for keeping the blood pressure in check.
  • Meditating in the corpse pose regularly also helps in reducing mental stress and regulating blood pressure.
HOME REMEDIES

Apart from resorting to meditation and certain Yogic exercises, a person can also incorporate some changes in his lifestyle and diet to keep hypertension at bay. These include:

  • Foods like eggs and red meat should be discarded from the diet.
  • Protein intake also needs to be reduced.
