The sense of smell is one of the five primary senses that a human being has. Aromatherapy, seeks to cure an individual by utilizing this sense of smell and using essential oils as well as other aromatic compounds. These aromatic compounds are believed to affect an individual’s mood and in turn have a positive impact on health. Although scientific research is yet to prove the effectiveness of this form of therapy but it is an undeniable fact that aromatherapy is one of the most popular forms of therapies in the domain of alternative medicine. Aroma and perfume might have similar connotations, but essential oils used for aromatherapy is never synonymous with the perfumed oils. The biggest difference between them is that the perfumed oil does not carry the therapeutic value of the essential oils.
